MyFD ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding that information when you use the MyFD mobile application (the "App").

1. Information We Collect

Account Information
If you create an account, we may collect your email address, name, and password (stored securely/encrypted).

Content Preferences
We collect the categories, topics, and locations you choose to follow so we can personalize your Home feed and Discover page.

Location Information
MyFD collects your device location (precise or approximate) to surface local news relevant to your area and personalize location-based content on your Home and Discover pages. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings; doing so may limit local content personalization.

Usage Data
We use PostHog to collect information about how you interact with the App, including articles viewed, features used, and general engagement analytics, to improve the App's functionality and understand usage patterns.

Device Information
We use Firebase for app infrastructure, crash reporting, and push notifications. This may include device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and push notification tokens.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Personalize your news feed and Discover page based on followed topics and location
Send push notifications for content you've opted into
Maintain, improve, and troubleshoot the App
Analyze usage trends to improve features (via PostHog)
Detect and address crashes and technical issues (via Firebase)
Communicate with you about your account, if applicable

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information with the following service providers who help us operate the App:

PostHog — product analytics and usage tracking
Firebase (Google) — app infrastructure, crash reporting, and push notifications
Supabase — backend data storage and authentication, if applicable

We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect our legal rights.

4. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App's services. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at contact@pioneerapplications.com.

5. Your Choices and Rights

You can update or delete your followed topics and locations at any time within the App
You can disable location access and push notifications through your device settings
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting contact@pioneerapplications.com
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the CCPA
If you are in the European Economic Area, you may have additional rights under the GDPR

6. Children's Privacy

MyFD is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above.
